Grizzly Peak Trail, Oregon

September 2, 2018

I had the chance to hike one of Southern Oregon's best hikes with my brother. Grizzly Peak is a 4.7 mile hike east of Ashland. It's a beautiful trail with awesome views.

The trail begins in the forest and climbs up.

The trail was in great condition and the trees were interesting.

There is a loop around the top.

We decided to go left a the first junction and soon arrived at a great view.

We could see Pilot Rock in the distance but it was still hazy from wildfire smoke.

It was rocky and mainly flat on the top. I imagine there would be many flowers earlier in the year.

The views were great, but we weren't actually on the summit. The summit was hidden somewhere in the forest. We weren't able to find it, but we had come mainly to enjoy the trail and the views.

As we looped around there was an area of burned forest.

It was a beautiful sunny day.

We re-entered the forest and began our return to the trailhead.

Just before we finished there was a nice view through the trees.

Overall, this is one of the best hikes in Southern Oregon. The views would have been even better if it wasn't quite as smoky. We probably could have even seen Mount Shasta. It was great to share the experience with my brother.
