Casper Mountain is located south of Casper, Wyoming. At 8,130 feet, it is about 3000 feet higher than Casper. Casper Mountain is a wide mountain without a prominent summit. One of the best views is right beside the road while driving up.
The mountain offers recreation opportunities and there is the Casper Trails Center that offers nordic skiing and other excitement. I had the opportunity to run one of the best trails on the mountain, the Eadsville Trail. The trail is designed as a mountain bike trail but is still a great trail for an adventure. For information see here.
I began the trail at the parking lot at the Skunk Hollow Trailhead. I quickly noticed the increased difficulty breathing at a higher elevation.
The trail was marked with blue blazes.
I reached a rocky overlook for one of the best views on the trail.
The trail was generally well-marked but I explored some other options.
A fawn went bouncing by.
There was beautiful single track trail in the forest.
On July 13, 2018, I had the opportunity to complete the trail for a second time. There were more flowers.
I stopped on the drive back to town for a photo overlooking Casper.
There was an excellent sunset.
The Eadsville Trail was a fun trail in the Casper area. Many thanks to everyone who designed and maintains the trail.
