August 25 and 26, 2018
After having recently moved to Medford, Oregon, I had the opportunity to visit Crescent City and some of the redwoods while going a church group surf trip.
After arriving a few of us went for a hike on the Hobb's Wall Trail in Del Norte Coast Redwood State Park. It is a about a 3.5 mile trail with some cool trees.
We had a little trouble finding the trail but eventually parked beside the road.
As we hiked we came to a trail junction so there are also other trails in the area.
It was a scenic trail through the forest.
There were some big trees.
After the hike we stopped at a view point and could see Crescent City to the north.
Here are a couple maps of the area.
In the evening we went to check out the Battery Point Lighthouse. It is on a tidal island so when the tide is high, it becomes an island.
It was a beautiful lighthouse.

We explored a little more around Crescent City.
We stayed at a group campsite at a private campground that was nearby.
In the morning we went to the beach.
It was a calm day.
I decided to go for a run down the beach before we went to rent our surfboards.
I think it was my first run beside the Pacific Ocean.
I ran until the beach ended at a rocky point and then turned around.
I had a fun time trying to learn to surf but didn't get any photos.
On the way back to Medford we stopped at the Jedediah Smith Redwoods and did a short hike at the Stout Grove.
Trees here are really impressive.
It was a really fun weekend and I was excited for more exciting adventures near Southern Oregon.
